What if the neighbours complain
What if they say no
What if I get it wrong
What if I upset someone
What if I come last
What if I don’t finish
What if I fail
What if……..
What if the neighbours joined in
What if they said YES
What if you get it RIGHT
What if you made someone smile
What if you came 2nd last,
What if you won
What if you did finish
What if you try again.
Do you live your life in fear of what might go wrong?
Do you avoid doing things because you think people might think things of you?
Fear is something that we learn as we grow. You don’t see a child give up on learning how to walk because they failed and fell over the very first time they tried. They pick themselves up and try again, over and over until they can walk.
Did you give up on learning how to drive a car when you stalled, bunny hopped and almost took out a tree on your first attempt? I’ll bet not. Getting your driver’s license was pretty much a non-negotiable as it gave us all our freedom to drive where ever we wanted without needing our parents to take us. The license test was pretty nerve-racking and I know that there are plenty that fail their first attempt simply because of nerves. That fear of failing actually killed off their skills, their knowledge and all of their driving ability.
It’s amazing how powerful our fear of failure (being judged by our perceived inadequacies) is. It is the biggest destroyer of dreams. It holds us back from fulfilling our true potential.
“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.
Life has no limitations, except the ones you make.
Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.” Les Brown
Fear makes us miserable.
Fear shuts us away from society.
Fear makes us miss opportunities and experiences.
The only thing that you should fear is NOT living your life to your full potential.
We only get one shot at this thing called life……
Make the most of yours!!
