Losing the last 5…..
Losing those last few kilograms is the most challenging of all and most people put their mind to doing MORE exercise.
WRONG!
#1 thing that needs to change is focusing on scale weight.
If you drop another 5kgs on the scales and part of the weight lost is lean tissue loss then you have actually lowered/slowed down your metabolism.
This means that when you reduce your exercise you will gain FAT again, faster and easier than you did in the first place.
#2. Thing that needs to change is thinking that MORE exercise is better. If you are finding it hard to shift that stubborn fat, doing MORE exercise might just causing you to get “fatter”. If you aren’t planning for optimal recovery post exercise then your body ends up inflamed, puffy.
If you roll your ankle or whack your thigh on the corner of a table, the injured area becomes swollen and painful (inflammation). When you train you do a teeny weeny amount of damage to your body (which is why you hurt the next day), by having a day or two in-between exercise bouts your allow your body to recover, heal that "damage" and to become stronger.
If you DON’T let that healing occur then the tiny amount of swelling becomes greater and you get “Fatter”.
#3. Thing that needs to change is thinking that it is all about calories in vs. calories out. That less calories you eat the faster, the easier it will be to lose the last 5 kgs, right?? Actually cutting back MORE calories makes it harder to shed those last 5. By eating less food you actually are reducing the amount of energy your body expends during the day. Eating actually has an energy cost. When you CHEW your food, you expend energy, so the more food you have to CHEW the more likely you are to achieve your fat loss goals.

#4. Thing that needs to change is thinking that you can out exercise what you eat.
Unless you are a professional athlete, that is just not physically possible. Apparently it would take you 1 hour and 1 minute to walk off a single Mars Bar. Do you have a spare 61 mins in your day to walk off a single Mars Bar?
And that’s only thinking about calories and failing to take into account what the consumption of such food does to the hormonal release in the body. Is the message being sent to say burn fat or store fat?

#5 Thing that needs to change is thinking that life will be “better” when you have lost the last 5. I can guarantee that if you are starving yourself and flogging yourself with exercise that you will feel like SHIT even if you do manage to achieve that loss. You will be exhausted and the likelihood of keeping that “last 5 “ off will be pretty small.

If you want to lose that last 5 and lose it FOREVER then it really is time to spend LESS time exercising and MORE time eating.
And eating REAL food.
