It's a great way to start getting exercise back into your weekly routine.
Intense Cardio Exercise I.C.E....
Jim made the decision in February 2016 that enough was enough and it was time to change tack and set a new course for his long term health.
He chose to start with I.C.E group training because it was only 30 mins in length. That was easy enough to schedule in to his day, 6:30am start time meant that he could get home with time to spare to help get his son ready for school, get himself ready for work and get them both off to where they needed to be in time.
Jim did say to me recently that he had thought after the first 60 secs, "what I have gone and done?" "How am I going to stick this out for the next 12 weeks? I'm only 60 secs in and already I feel like curling up in a ball!" But he turned up to the next session and the one after that..... now it's part of his weekly routine.
Early on one thing that did crop up was how, in the past, doing any abdominal exercises like sit ups or crunches made Jim feel nauseous. To his credit, he gave each and every exercise a go and disappeared out the door when he needed to get some air.
During last Monday's session Jim was doing the dreaded v-sit knees into chest out to straight exercise and I noticed he had a rather pained look on his face..... When I asked him if it was the sick feeling that went along with doing those sort of exercises, he looked at me with a rather surprised look on his face and said "well, no, it's not that at all, it's just because the overall workout is bloody hard!! I don't get that nausea sensation any more!"
And he mentioned that he can now get out of the car with ease. No more groaning and struggling to get out like an 80 year old.
Jim has spent less than 1%, yes one percent, of his week training. Just 90 mins per week....just think of what you might achieve.
The Average Person watches 33 hours of TV per week.
The Average Excuse for not Exercising?
Not Enough Time......
Jim has just destroyed that excuse.
