5 Reasons why you need to train with weights.
1st reason you need to train with weights is.....
You want to LOOK fantastic in "THAT" outfit.
Jeans, bikini, LBD, board shorts, wedding dress, wedding tux. Whatever it is, you want to look in the mirror and think "I LOOK awesome" and then think "I FEEL even better!
A structured weight training program is the only non surgical way to improve body shape.
2nd is related to Fat Loss.
As you can clearly see, lean tissue takes up WAY less space than fat AND uses more energy.
Training with weights actually SPEEDS up FAT LOSS! Bet you thought that cardio was the el supremo when it came to fat loss. To create a body that acts like a FAT BURNING furnace, increasing your lean tissue needs to be your #1 priority. The more lean tissue you have, the more fat you burn when you are doing other activities like sleeping or patting the dog or cat AND on top of increasing your resting metabolic rate 24/7 you still get more fat burnt AFTER your weights session because of the extra energy your body needs for repair and recovery!
There is only so much exercise you can do on a daily basis, so why not get smart about how you Burn More Fat!
I could probably stop at those two reasons, as they are what floats most people's boats when it comes to motivation for training. However, I am sure there are a few people that are interested in the non-visible reasons.
3rd reason for weight training....Healthy Ageing.
Weight training slows down the rate of muscle tissue loss, which means you stay stronger and less likely to fall, or have postural issues, or lose your independence, or have to stop doing the things you love doing such as golf, gardening, hiking, dancing on table tops.........
Weight training also boosts GH (growth hormone) secretion. GH is our #1 youth hormone that burns fat and helps muscles recover fast. GH levels decline with age. Heavy weight training naturally produces a significant increase in circulating GH.

If you DON'T want to live an active, independent life and have high levels of the Youth Hormone circulating throughout your body, DON'T even think about weight training!!
4th You don't like getting sick. Going back to high school science classes where you might have a vague recollection (or not) about human biology. Cells and the work that those funky little factories do; that all happens in your muscles. So the less muscle you have, the less cells you have and the less fuel production that powers immune function and the more likely you are to pick up each bug that does the rounds of your neighbourhood!
Also the more muscle, with more cells also means more mitochondria. This kidney bean shaped structure that hangs out in a cell, not only plays an integral role in fat and carbohydrate metabolism but for those of you worried about Type 2 Diabetes or those who even have Type 2 diabetes, your mitochondria helps with the maintenance of healthy blood glucose levels!!

5th Reason why you should participate in a periodised weight training program. Mental Health - you simply FEEL Better!
How? Your sleeping patterns improve. Short sleep duration increase depression and anxiety.
Intense exercise releases compounds that have a "mood boosting" effect and dampen stress levels.
Helps improve the connections in the brain.
AND because you would be training with other people there are new friendships made.
To be truthful, you won't simply feel "better", you'll feel friggin AWESOME!!!!
