The new year is always a time when people choose to make resolutions to make positive changes in their lives. In general, people’s resolutions tend to fall flat, and I know we’re all guilty of taking up a resolution and dropping it by the end of January.
For 2016, you should consider making a resolution that is not only realistic so you’ll be more likely to keep it, you should also consider making it something that has a better outcome than if you don’t achieve it. For example cutting all your hair cut off, or donating the money you'd saved for a holiday to a cause that you are against.
Here are three resolution ideas, and how to keep yourself motivated to complete them (if getting the body of your dreams and having more energy isn’t enough motivation, that is).
At least once a quarter, do something that is REALLY out of your comfort zone.
For example abseiling or rock climbing, entering into a fun run, training with a different group of people.
Need motivation? At the beginning of the quarter, post on your social media what you are planning on doing. . As your current contacts suggest the different activities that people in their circles do to you, make plans to attend activity and ask your contact to hold you accountable. Having someone to ensure you follow through can be enough to motivate many people.
Make a plan and keep it
This refers to a training program, and nutrition plan, and an end goal for where you’d like to see you and your body/health by the end of 2016. You should spend a week at the beginning 2016 setting your end goal, breaking it down into smaller goals, and working out your plan with your trainer.. Above all else, make sure that your plan is something that you will strive to complete, but is also doable.
Need motivation? Set measurable and attainable goals for deadlines throughout the year, and when you reach one of those goals at or before deadline, reward yourself. Go see a movie, go shopping for new clothes, spend time with loved ones – whatever you can promise yourself that you will work toward.
Keep your focus
So many of us are guilty of making excuses; bringing family into the mix and blaming them, daydreaming about holiday plans or being too worried about what other people think. Keep these things separate and maintain your focus in 2016 – you’ll be amazed at the results.
Need motivation? Having more energy, better health, less self loathing, increased confidence and simply enjoying life each and every single day should be more than enough motivation. Oh and the chance to win at least $2,500 cash…
